About The Position

Agresta, Storms & O’Leary, PC (ASO) is a full-service CPA firm with offices across central and southern Indiana and approximately 40 full-time professionals. The firm provides assurance, tax, business consulting, and entrepreneurial accounting services to a diverse client base. ASO is adding a Tax Supervisor to its growing team. This role bridges the Senior Associate and Manager levels, with primary responsibility for reviewing the work of Associates and Senior Associates, running smaller engagements end-to-end, and serving as a key technical and client resource as the candidate develops toward a Manager role.

Requirements

  • Active CPA license (required)
  • 5–7 years of progressive public accounting experience with a broad tax background
  • Strong technical knowledge across individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and nonprofit tax
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing the work of less experienced staff and providing developmental feedback
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills and the judgment to know when to escalate to a Manager or Partner
  • Track record of managing multiple concurrent engagements and meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Prior experience at a firm of meaningful scale and complexity

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CCH tax software environment (or demonstrated ability to learn new platforms quickly)
  • Demonstrated readiness to take on increasing supervisory and client management responsibility
  • Familiarity with advisory services beyond compliance work
  • Experience contributing to process or technology improvements within a tax practice

Responsibilities

  • Review tax returns prepared by Associates and Senior Associates across individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and nonprofit engagements
  • Run smaller tax engagements end-to-end, including scoping, scheduling, execution, and client communication
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day client contact on assigned engagements, building trusted relationships and resolving most technical questions directly
  • Identify and research moderate to complex tax issues, including planning opportunities and exposure areas, and prepare clear written analysis
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and real-time feedback to 2–4 staff members, helping accelerate their technical and professional growth
  • Partner with Managers and Partners on engagement planning, budgeting, and risk assessment
  • Stay current on federal and state legislative changes and assess their impact on client engagements
  • Contribute to process improvement, technology adoption, and quality initiatives within the tax practice
  • Support business development efforts as appropriate, including identifying expanded service opportunities within the existing client base
