Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree with multiple accounting courses (Transcripts required. Attach to application or email to [email protected].)
  • An associate’s degree and experience in accounting, finance, insurance, or tax preparation/analysis
  • Relevant experience or education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis with an approved equivalence by the Division of State Human Resources (DSHR)
  • Academic degrees must be from an accredited institution of higher learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Twelve semester hours in accounting, audit, or other business-related subjects
  • Basic knowledge of SC tax laws and forms and on-line computer systems

Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex examinations of Corporate, Fiduciary, and Partnership tax returns.
  • Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies, educate taxpayers, and provide exceptional customer service contributing to taxpayer compliance.
  • Reviewing C and S Corporations, Electric Co-Operatives, Public Utility, Bank, Savings & Loan, Partnership, Eleemosynary, and Fiduciary tax returns for accuracy and compliance with SC laws.
  • Examining refund claims, carry-forwards, extensions, return amendments, and tax or license fee computations.
  • Providing professional customer service to taxpayers and other departments via phone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Analyzing accounts, annotating updates, and resolving balance due or payment discrepancies.
  • Conducting withholding verification and tax credit reviews.
