About The Position

The Tax Specialist will assist with various income tax and non-income tax assignments which will include research, tax planning, monthly/annual compliance duties and special projects. This position will receive general supervision. Key responsibilities include: Support income tax diligence and compliance for renewable energy tax credits. Assist with non-income tax compliance. Assist in the preparation of the miscellaneous monthly journal entries. On a monthly basis, review sales tax on vendor invoices from Ameren purchases. Able to complete tax research projects. Assist with income tax planning. Additional responsibilities related to special projects as assigned. Assist in addressing tax questions from various business teams as required. Assist in memo writing and other communications in support of various ongoing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration from an accredited college or university required.
  • Three or more years of income tax experience at a professional level in a public accounting firm, corporate tax department or government agency required (1 year required with specified Master's degree).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment required.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities at a time required.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master’s level degree (Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or Master of Taxation) or CPA preferred.
  • Experience in regulated utility income tax accounting preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle, PowerPlan/PowerTax and OneSource software products preferred.
