About The Position

Spartan Placements is seeking an experienced Tax Services Manager with a strong commercial tax background to join a growing public accounting team in the Los Angeles/Woodland Hills area. We are looking for a commercial tax generalist with significant experience working with S-Corporations and Partnerships, along with the ability to manage client relationships, review tax returns, perform tax research, and provide tax planning and consulting services.

Requirements

6+ years of public accounting experience.
Strong commercial/generalist tax background.
Significant experience with S-Corporations and Partnerships.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Experience with CCH Axcess, SurePrep, or XCM is required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

Master's in Taxation preferred.
CPA preferred.
Strong tax research, analytical, and client-service skills.
Demonstrated ability to review returns and workpapers and oversee tax engagements.
Stable employment history with approximately 2–3+ years per role preferred.
Candidates should have primarily worked in public accounting; no more than 1–2 years total outside public accounting.
Real Estate industry/client experience is strongly preferred.
Experience serving a diverse commercial client base.
Experience with regional, national, or Top 100 public accounting firms.

Responsibilities

Review federal and state tax returns, workpapers, and tax projections.
Manage and oversee tax return preparation and review processes.
Provide tax compliance, planning, and consulting services to commercial clients.
Work extensively with S-Corporations and Partnerships.
Conduct tax research and resolve complex tax issues.
Manage client relationships and communicate directly with clients.
Support business development and client growth initiatives.
Mentor, train, and develop staff.
Stay current with federal and state tax law changes and their impact on clients.
Assist with special projects and other tax-related matters as needed.
