About The Position

Deloitte Tax LLP’s Global Investment and Innovation Incentives (Gi3) practice helps organizations identify and pursue government credits and incentives tied to investment, innovation, sustainability, and community development. With more than 1,000 practitioners supporting clients across more than 150 countries and regions, Gi3 advises on complex tax credit and incentive matters across industries. In this role, you will work on engagements involving clean energy tax credits, tax due diligence, project finance, tax structuring, and financial modeling. This is an opportunity to join a growing practice and collaborate with professionals across Tax, Consulting, and Audit & Assurance. Transferability and Tax Equity Investments (TTEI) sits in Gi3 and focuses on two primary service offerings / client profiles. 1. Assist clean energy developers or asset owners realize the maximum value for tax attributes generated by their projects (tax credits & depreciation) by assisting them with tax credit advisory services, complex financial modeling, and tax structuring. 2. Assist the firm’s most important clients with their investments in clean energy projects or with the purchase of clean energy tax credits by assisting with tax due diligence, tax structuring, financial modeling, strategy and marketplace education. The TTEI team focus on highly technical and high value services. The Candidate will have an opportunity to improve technical partnership tax and tax credit knowledge, due diligence skillset, and financial modeling capabilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Technology, Environmental Science, or another business, science, engineering field, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in federal tax, credits and incentives, or public accounting
  • Experience with clean energy tax credits
  • Experience preparing technical analyses, credit calculations, memoranda, due diligence reports, or executive summaries
  • Ability to travel 25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
  • One of the following active accreditations obtained, in process, or willing and able to obtain: Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office if eligible to sit for the CPA, Licensed attorney, Enrolled Agent, Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA), Professional Engineer

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in Taxation or Law, including Master of Tax, Juris Doctor, or Master of Laws
  • Experience with federal or state and local credits and incentives
  • Experience with sustainability technologies or environmental sciences
  • Experience in a Big Four public accounting, or law firm environment

Responsibilities

  • Perform due diligence services for client’s prospective investments in tax equity partnerships or purchase of IRA tax credits
  • Perform structuring and financial and tax modeling services for project developers
  • Assist with financial & tax modeling, structuring, and due diligence for M&A transactions
  • Researching and analyzing relevant tax law and guidance; writing technical memoranda or persuasive submissions (in controversy matters); preparing content for the practice.
  • Working with local office teams to consult on complex and strategic technical issues—i.e., client service delivery—and developing knowledge of tax laws.
  • Teaming with other practices in WNT (e.g., International Tax, Passthroughs, etc.) as needed to perform above tasks.
