This role requires an individual who can efficiently oversee multiple client engagements, demonstrate proficiency in business development, marketing, and recruitment, and possess strong leadership skills to foster professional growth within the staff. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent field is required
  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience providing tax compliance and consulting services to high-net-worth individuals
  • 8+ years of tax compliance, specialization in complex technical individual and business returns
  • Recent Public Accounting experience
  • CPA or IRS Enrolled Agent Certification required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Taxation or relevant field
  • Experience using GoSystems or CCH Axcess tax software
  • Experience acquiring new clients and growing a book of business

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team, foster strong client relationships, and collaborate closely with Partners in an entrepreneurial environment that values exceptional client service and technical excellence while maintaining clear visibility into engagement status, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Oversee tax planning and compliance functions for ultra-high net worth individuals and their families, ensuring timely, accurate delivery of federal, state, and local returns, while proactively identifying and resolving workflow, technical, or client-related delays.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of hedge fund K-1 treatment, with strong understanding of trusts, estates, gifts, and charitable entities, and ensure consistent application of tax law and firm standards across all engagements.
  • Perform primary review of complex tax returns, ensuring technical accuracy, proper documentation, and minimal rework, while identifying recurring issues and driving continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a primary client contact, delivering proactive tax planning insights, responding to inquiries with clarity and urgency, and supporting client meetings and presentations.
  • Monitor engagement budgets, realization, and team utilization; identify margin risks, scope creep, or inefficiencies, and implement solutions to improve performance and profitability.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders while promoting accountability and ownership across the engagement team.
  • Provide coaching, training, and real-time feedback to staff; support recruiting, onboarding, and performance evaluation efforts; and contribute to the continuous development of team capabilities.
  • Leverage tax technology, data tools, and process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability of service delivery.
  • Actively participate in business development efforts, including identifying opportunities, supporting proposals, and expanding client relationships.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and collaborate across the firm to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
