About The Position

As a Tax Senior Manager specializing in Real Estate at Anchin, you will play a key leadership role within the Real Estate Tax practice, overseeing complex tax compliance, planning, and advisory engagements for a diverse portfolio of sophisticated real estate clients. This role involves significant client ownership, advanced technical oversight, people leadership, and close collaboration with Partners on strategic initiatives, practice development, and high-level tax planning. The ideal candidate is a seasoned real estate tax professional with deep technical expertise, strong leadership presence, and the ability to serve as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting, Masters, Law or advanced degree desirable.
  • CPA required.
  • 8+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting, with significant specialization in real estate.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex real estate tax engagements and managing client relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop Managers and teams.
  • Deep technical knowledge of partnership taxation and real estate-specific tax regulations.
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients.
  • Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance for a portfolio of complex real estate clients, including partnerships, corporations, LLCs, and REITs, serving as the primary engagement and client contact.
  • Review and provide final-level oversight of complex real estate tax engagements covering partnership allocations, 704(b) and 704(c), 754 elections, opportunity zones, like-kind exchanges (1031), and cost segregation considerations.
  • Oversee and perform high-level review of partnership tax returns (Forms 1065), K-1s, and related supporting schedules, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency across engagements.
  • Identify, research, and resolve complex and high-risk tax issues; review and approve technical memoranda and provide authoritative guidance to clients and internal teams.
  • Advise clients on advanced tax planning opportunities, including entity structuring, acquisition and disposition strategies, and real estate-specific tax implications.
  • Manage and oversee engagement budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and workflow across multiple concurrent engagements to ensure timely delivery of high-quality work.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Managers and junior team members; provide performance feedback, support career development, and serve as a technical and leadership resource within the Real Estate Tax group.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and escalation point while partnering closely with Partners on engagement strategy and client service.
