About The Position

BGM is seeking motivated, curious, and service-minded accounting students for its 2028 Tax Season Internship Program in Bloomington, MN. This internship is offered during the firm's busiest period to provide interns with hands-on experience in public accounting, working alongside experienced professionals on real client engagements in both tax and assurance. Interns will be integrated into the team, receiving guidance, feedback, and learning opportunities from professionals at various levels within BGM. The program aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of a career in public accounting. Successful interns may be considered for future opportunities based on performance, career goals, and business needs.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Working toward meeting the 150-credit requirement for CPA licensure
  • Generally in junior or senior year, or similar academic standing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Enjoys working collaboratively while also being able to work independently
  • Positive attitude, curiosity, and willingness to ask questions and learn
  • Experience working with customers, clients, or others in a service-oriented environment
  • Able to work approximately 55 hours per week during peak periods
  • Able to work in our Bloomington, MN office throughout the internship
  • Permanently authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

  • Assist with audits, reviews, compilations, and other assurance engagements
  • Prepare individual and business tax returns alongside members of our tax team
  • Assist with tax research and special projects
  • Gather, organize, and analyze client information
  • Support multiple client engagements and communicate progress, questions, and findings with your team
  • Gain exposure to clients across a variety of industries
  • Build technical accounting and tax knowledge through hands-on experience and training
  • Work directly with professionals at different levels of the firm, including experienced accountants, managers, and partners
  • Develop communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
