About The Position

As a seasonal, experienced Tax Professional at an independently owned and operated H&R Block franchise, you will help clients make confident, informed decisions about their lives, careers, and money while building lasting client relationships. You will serve clients with diverse tax needs with support from an expert team and advanced tax training.

The role involves interviewing clients in person and through virtual tools, preparing accurate tax returns, supporting clients with IRS matters, and helping grow the business and retain clients. Tax notice services are available at all certification levels; Circular 230 associates may provide audit representation. You will also mentor and support teammates. Employment decisions for this independently operated franchise office are made by the franchisee. Completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment does not guarantee employment.

Requirements

• Successfully complete the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• Have experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax.
• Have experience completing individual tax returns.
• Have experience working in a fast-paced environment.
• Be comfortable working with virtual tools, including video, phone, and chat.
• Be able to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing.
• Complete continuing education requirements and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent, or higher.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
• CPA or Enrolled Agent certification.
• Experience completing complex individual, trust, or partnership returns.
• Five or more years of experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or tax.
• Experience conducting virtual tax interviews.
• Experience with tax planning and audit support.
• Sales and/or marketing experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct tax interviews with clients face to face and through virtual tools, including video, phone, chat, and email.
• Prepare complete and accurate tax returns.
• Generate business growth, increase client retention, and offer additional products and services.
• Provide clients with IRS support.
• Provide tax notice services, as permitted for all certification levels.
• Provide audit representation if a Circular 230 associate.
• Mentor and support teammates.
