About The Position

CLA is seeking a Tax Principal or Signing Director to support their Manufacturing & Distribution/Aerospace, Defense & Government Contracting clients in one of their Texas offices. This role is a senior position within the industry, focusing on client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership. The individual will lead a team of tax and industry professionals in delivering tax compliance and consulting services, mentoring them to understand client businesses deeply and meet client needs. They will also assume full responsibility for client services within their assigned book of business, actively develop new business, review and sign engagement letters, discuss assignment terms with clients and staff, approve fees, review staff work papers and tax returns, and sign client deliverables. Staying current on tax law changes and demonstrating commitment to the firm are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or master’s in accounting, Taxation or related field
Current CPA licensure required. (JD or EA may be accepted in lieu of CPA).
10+ years of public accounting experience in a tax role with a public accounting and/or professional services firm

Responsibilities

Lead a team of tax and industry professionals to deliver tax compliance and consulting services.
Mentor the team to develop a deep understanding of client businesses and deliver the firm’s services to fully meet client’s needs.
Assume full responsibility for all services for clients in a book of business.
Actively develop new business and expand services to existing clients.
Review and sign engagement letters, discuss the nature and terms of assignments with clients and staff, and approve fees.
Review and approve work papers and tax returns prepared by staff.
Review and sign client deliverables.
Keep current on tax law changes.
Demonstrate commitment to the firm through a willingness to devote time to the practice.
