Requirements

  • Successful completion of the Common Final Evaluation (CFE)
  • Successful completion of/or in the process of completing the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course and/or Master of Taxation Course
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience with a tax specialty
  • Robust technical knowledge of Canadian tax related issues and of GAAP requirements for tax provisions
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
  • Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, project management and organizational skills
  • Professional manner, strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and demonstrated ability to work with other’s effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to provide value-added service to clients and strong understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment including related deadlines. Ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
  • A passion for tax work!

Responsibilities

  • Review of a wide range of personal tax, review and compilation engagements and ensure all tax related matters have been adequately addressed prior to filing
  • Provide daily guidance/support, coaching and development of firm staff with respect to tax knowledge and matters
  • Research of tax issues and preparation of memoranda
  • Participate in special tax engagements
  • Provide client tax planning services
  • Preparation and presentation of technical sessions to firm staff
  • Provide personal, attentive service to clients to encourage productive working relationships and identify client service opportunities
