About The Position

Aldrich CPAs and Advisors is seeking a Tax Manager for their Lake Oswego office, focusing on supporting clients within their construction practice. While prior construction tax experience is not a prerequisite, this role offers a significant opportunity for individuals seeking meaningful client relationships, partner support, and professional growth within a specialized practice. The Tax Manager will collaborate closely with clients, partners, and team members to provide comprehensive tax compliance, tax planning, consulting, and relationship management services. The construction practice is dedicated to serving closely held businesses, their owners, and leadership teams who value proactive guidance and enduring advisory relationships. Experience with closely held businesses, S corporations, partnerships, manufacturing, real estate, or other complex tax clients is considered transferable and beneficial. The ideal candidate possesses strong tax fundamentals, excellent client relationship management skills, and effective communication abilities for both clients and internal teams. This hybrid role requires the candidate to be local to the Lake Oswego/Portland metro area to maintain visibility with clients and team members in the Lake Oswego and Salem markets.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of recent public accounting experience with a primary focus on tax
  • Experience managing client relationships and reviewing tax work
  • Strong client service mindset and ability to build trust with clients
  • Ability to supervise, mentor, and develop others
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Successful completion of the CPA exam, licensed CPA, JD, or EA
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction tax experience is not required but helpful.
  • Experience with closely held businesses, S corporations, partnerships, manufacturing, real estate, or similar client groups may be a strong fit.
  • Local to the Lake Oswego/Portland metro area.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and plan service delivery to clients, including conducting review meetings
  • Manage assigned client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor
  • Analyze client financial information, assess needs, and determine strategies to meet client objectives
  • Communicate technical tax concepts clearly to clients and team members
  • Develop and mentor staff and seniors through training and performance feedback
  • Manage the risk and financial performance of engagements, including billings, collections, and project budgets
  • Participate in new client prospecting, presentations, and closing meetings
  • Collaborate with partners and team members to support continued growth in the construction practice
