About The Position

Meaden & Moore is seeking a Tax Manager for their Personal Tax Advisory Group in Northeast, Ohio (Cleveland, Akron, or Wooster). This role specializes in personal and fiduciary tax, overseeing client engagements, supervising staff, and directing project progress. The Tax Manager will handle increasingly complex client assignments and develop client relationships. Requirements

  • Accounting/Business (or related) degree preferred.
  • CPA preferred, but not required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum 4 to 6 years’ related experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint) as well as basic knowledge of operating systems.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in quantitative and qualitative research and analysis.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in building relationships and leadership ability.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in project management.
  • Demonstrated aptitude in business development.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of tax law, regulations, and complex tax issues, with a focus on research and analytical skills.
  • Provide tax advice to other firm members and consult directly with clients.
  • Apply appropriate accounting and tax theory to ensure data accuracy.
  • Direct the progress of tax return projects and research, including planning, organization, delegation, and coordination.
  • Identify problems or opportunities for improvement in clients’ systems, procedures, or business operations.
  • Coordinate staff to resolve tax-related issues.
  • Communicate effectively with engagement team members regarding information sharing and deadlines.
  • Assist with and lead engagement planning, including outlining issues, determining information needs, supervising staff in tax return preparation, completing workpapers, and submitting reviewed tax returns.
  • Participate in the proposal process and begin training on administrative, practice management, and development matters.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to staff for career development and assist in performance evaluations.
  • Develop expertise in federal, state, and local taxation rules and understand Meaden & Moore’s technical standards.
  • Comply with continuing professional education requirements.
  • Actively participate in firm and community programs.
  • Seek opportunities to expand professional networks and identify prospective referral sources/clients, potentially through active participation in professional associations.
