As a Tax Manager, you play a central role in delivering high-quality tax engagements from planning through completion. You will take ownership of tax engagements and lead the preparation and review of individual and business returns, including small business partnerships, S-Corporations, C-Corporations, and individual filings. This role includes signing returns and ensuring every engagement meets the firm's standards for accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. In this role, you will oversee advanced areas such as allocations, partner capital account maintenance rules, partner basis and related basis adjustments, and the interpretation of partnership agreements. Candidates with experience in partnership tax law are best equipped to provide solutions to our clients. You will also work directly with real estate-related tax engagements, including Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), and other investment tax credit programs. This includes reading and understanding partnership agreements, preparing and reviewing cost certifications, and advising clients on how tax attributes flow through complex real estate project structures. This role requires advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g. power queries, data modeling, advanced pivot tables, advanced formulas, dynamic arrays), as well as proficiency within tax practice management platforms. These skills will strengthen accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across engagements. It also enhances staff performance by refining output elevating technical skills, and guiding team members toward best practices in tax preparation and data management. As a facilitator and technical leader, you will train staff, guide them through intricate partnerships and real estate issues, and provide constructive feedback that supports their growth. Beyond being a strong communicator, our Tax Managers must build by engaging thoughtfully, asking informed questions, offering clear explanations, and turning technical tax issues into practical guidance. Consistent, clear, relationship-focused communication fortifies client confidence and team performance. Meeting deadlines is a critical part of the role. Timely delivery reinforces client trust, reduces engagement risk, and helps clients make informed decisions within their planning cycles. Clients value our consistency and reliability, and your ability to stay organized, responsive, and proactive directly contributes to a positive client experience. Additional work hours are required from January through April 15th.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to perform the core duties outlined above
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Active CPA license
  • Background in public accounting or a client-focused environment
  • Advanced technical skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g. power queries, data modeling, advanced pivot tables, advanced formulas, dynamic arrays)
  • Proficiency within tax practice management platforms
  • Strong communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in partnership tax law
  • Experience with rental Real Estate partnerships
  • Prior experience with Engagement Manager and CCH Axcess
