We are seeking an accomplished Tax Manager with Big Four firm and in-house tax department experience, to join our Global Tax Reporting and Compliance Team. This position, reporting to the Director of Global Income Tax Reporting, will work collaboratively with other members of the team, as well as AeroVironment’s accounting and FP&A teams, to prepare the company’s quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations, reviewing tax returns and ensuring adherence to all relevant tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of tax principles and a commitment to accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MST strongly preferred).
  • Master’s degree in taxation preferred.
  • Minimum 7-9 years in corporate tax, with at least 2+ years of Big Four experience.
  • Strong understanding of ASC 740, transfer pricing, and indirect taxes.
  • Proficient in relevant tax software and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle).
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP system and strong Excel skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder) or asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) required.
  • This position requires access to information that is subject to compliance with the International Traffic Arms Regulations (“ITAR”) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (“EAR”). In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
  • A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15.
  • Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales tax returns, and other non-income tax filings.
  • Manage the quarterly and annual tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740.
  • Conduct tax research and analysis to ensure compliance with current tax laws and identify potential tax planning opportunities.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Develop and implement domestic and international tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
  • Manage tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
  • Stay informed of changes in tax legislation and regulations and assess their impact on the Company.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payment of all tax obligations.
