About The Position

Caseware is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Tax Manager (SME) to help shape the future of their tax products. This part-time role involves partnering with Product Management, Development, and Quality Assurance teams in the ongoing development and enhancement of Caseware's U.S. tax solutions. It is ideal for an experienced tax professional who wants to leverage their technical tax knowledge in a technology-focused environment. As a trusted advisor, this role provides expertise on U.S. tax regulations, tax preparation workflows, compliance requirements, and industry best practices to ensure solutions meet the evolving needs of tax professionals. The role is critical in translating tax requirements into practical, scalable software capabilities that improve efficiency, accuracy, and user experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in U.S. tax compliance, tax preparation, tax consulting, or tax advisory services.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal income tax rules and tax compliance processes.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, and/or S-corporation tax returns.
  • Strong understanding of tax workflows within public accounting firms or corporate tax departments.
  • Ability to interpret tax legislation and translate technical requirements into practical business solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience with tax software solutions and tax technology platforms.
  • Experience reviewing or developing tax methodologies, guidance, or technical content.
  • Background in public accounting, tax consulting, or professional services.
  • Experience with tax technology, automation, or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with SaaS products and software development environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary U.S. tax subject matter expert for Caseware's tax product initiatives.
  • Provide guidance on U.S. federal and state tax regulations, compliance requirements, and tax preparation workflows.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers to define and prioritize product requirements and enhancements.
  • Review product designs, workflows, calculations, and tax content to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Assist in translating tax legislation and regulatory changes into software requirements and product updates.
  • Validate tax-related functionality and support quality assurance activities.
  • Provide input on tax forms, schedules, calculations, diagnostics, and compliance processes.
  • Help identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvements within the tax preparation process.
  • Monitor changes in U.S. tax legislation, IRS guidance, and industry trends.
  • Advise product teams on emerging developments that may impact customers or product functionality.
  • Participate in product planning discussions and strategic initiatives.
  • Support the development of product documentation, training materials, and customer-facing guidance as needed.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Customer Success, and Support teams.
  • Provide tax expertise during product reviews, feature design sessions, and release planning.
  • Act as a resource for internal stakeholders on technical tax questions and industry practices.
