The Summer 2027 Tax Interns in our Chicago office will receive individual, hands-on training from experienced tax professionals in various areas of taxation, tax workpaper documentation, and other projects. You will be paired with a tax supervisor or manager as a mentor and an additional buddy, usually a tax associate, for support and guidance throughout your internship. Our leadership, including partners and managers, is invested in your growth. Interns will gain experience similar to first-year associates, working on real compliance projects that benefit clients and the firm. Interns who join the firm full-time after their internship will have the opportunity to gain experience in a variety of areas, allowing you to navigate your personal career path based on your interests.

Requirements

  • Accounting major
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Internet plan with minimum upload and download speeds: 100+ Mbps download and 20+ Mbps upload
  • Home Wi-Fi should be password protected

Responsibilities

  • Prepare a variety of individual tax returns which may include high net worth and multi-state returns to meet government requirements and client expectations
  • Maintain a working knowledge of individual tax laws
  • Maintain a working knowledge of tax preparation software
  • Perform other accounting duties as necessary to meet the responsibilities of the position and client expectations
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as needed
  • Identify and communicate tax and accounting issues to senior associates, managers and partners
  • Demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks
  • Proactively seek guidance, clarification, and feedback
  • Learn about the firm – get to know partners/managers, services provided, specialties of individuals, key clients and industries served
  • Build communication skills: practice business writing (clear workpapers and emails), working with other professionals, and feeling comfortable in business situations.
