About The Position

Join Highgate this summer for an exciting opportunity with our Select Service Tax division as a Tax Intern! Our 2027 Tax Internship gives you the opportunity to explore how tax supports financial operations across the hospitality industry. You’ll work alongside experienced Tax professionals, gain exposure to hotel property tax processes and reporting, and begin developing the analytical and technical skills that support accurate tax compliance and financial decision-making across a hotel portfolio. Our internship begins in June and is based at our Corporate Offices in Irving, TX.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Finance (in progress) or a similar degree.
• Minimum Junior status.
• Knowledge of accounting and/or finance principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and reports) and PowerPoint skills.
• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Must be organized with the ability to work accurately in a time-efficient manner.
• Demonstrate communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
• Ability to commit to a 10-week onsite internship (June–August).
• Must reside in the Dallas, TX area during the internship and work onsite in Irving, TX.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Tax projects, including reconciling and analyzing tax data.
• Assist with information used for monthly transactional tax returns, including sales and use, lodging, and gross receipts taxes.
• Support state and local tax audits by gathering documentation and assisting with research.
• Assist with processing and routing incoming tax correspondence and documentation.
• Help maintain internal indirect tax compliance systems and records.
• Must be able to multitask and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of company and financial information.
