About The Position

Aprio is a progressive, fast-growing firm looking for a Tax Director to join their dynamic Enterprise Tax team. This role will help clients maximize their opportunities. Aprio is a Top 20 CPA and advisory firm with 40 U.S. office locations and international offices, employing over 3,200 team members globally. The firm focuses on fast-growing industries, ensuring clients are prepared for future challenges and opportunities. The Tax Director will manage income tax preparation engagements within the business tax group and provide advice on various U.S. business-related issues, including retirement plans, payroll setup, sales tax, and accounting requirements. Familiarity with domestic tax issues such as state nexus, deferred revenue, UNICAP, 163(j) limitations, and R&D capitalization is expected. The role involves working closely with a lead partner and professional staff, performing high-level reviews of tax submissions, and engaging in tax consulting.

Requirements

  • CPA is required for this role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Recent work experience in a public accounting firm (last 5 years)
  • 10+ years experience in federal tax compliance and consulting with a focus on pass thru entities and individuals
  • Must have technology and/or e-commerce, distribution, manufacturing experience
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Computer expertise including knowledge of CCH Axcess and GoSystems tax software

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Taxation highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Manage income tax preparation engagements and work in the business tax group
  • Provide advice on numerous issues that relate to doing business in the US, such as discussions around retirement plans, payroll setup, sales tax, accounting requirements and obligations
  • Be familiar with domestic tax issues such as state nexus, deferred revenue, UNICAP, 163(j) limitations, and R&D capitalization
  • Work closely with a lead partner and a select group of professional staff
  • Perform high level review of various tax submissions, as well as tax consulting
