About The Position

The North America region requires a highly technical and experienced individual to lead the design, implementation, ongoing management and continuous development of the North America tax strategy for all tax matters. The Tax Lead, North America will lead the delivery of the effective tax rate across the region, alongside ensuring governance and compliance in the region with the group’s external tax obligations. The role requires analysis and management of complex multidimensional issues utilizing financial and economic analysis and intellectual debate involving discussions with and management of external advisors to optimize the tax profile of the North America region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline, complemented by a professional qualification (e.g. ACA or local equivalent).
  • Senior tax leader with extensive experience in business partnering within complex, matrixed organisational environments, ideally within FMCG or healthcare sectors.
  • 12+ years’ expertise in tax, including comprehensive end‑to‑end transaction experience—strategic reviews, transaction evaluation, optimisation implementation, financial impact assessment, and execution.
  • Advanced financial expertise in modelling, valuation, analysis, forecasting, performance management, and strategic planning, providing senior-level decision support and value‑added insight on highly complex business and transaction-related issues.
  • Deep understanding of US tax code, OECD guidelines, and local transfer pricing regulations, with experience negotiating with the IRS on tax matters.
  • Proven capability to deliver management insight, simplify complexity, and clearly articulate financial and tax concepts to senior stakeholders and non-tax business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Providing leadership across the Global Tax team, including influencing the Haleon Group Tax Strategy and identifying and driving people/process improvements required to enable the successful implementation of Haleon’s Tax Strategy.
  • Ensure Haleon operates in a manner which is consistent with both the Group Tax Strategy and local fiscal requirements, through ensuring that the North America Tax team’s interaction with external stakeholders are handled in a manner consistent with the group’s Global Tax Strategy and values and thereby maintains Haleon’s corporate reputation.
  • In consultation with the Deputy Head of Tax, provide strategic direction to the North America tax team to ensure a strategic focus on tax optimization and tax risk mitigation opportunities across the region.
  • Effective business partner to ensure that tax supports the business objectives and identifies and implements efficiencies by providing real time US tax technical input on a variety of projects.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Tax Reporting to deliver accurate and timely tax numbers for Group reporting purposes, forecasting the tax charge and forecasting of cash tax.
  • Drive the strategic direction of external tax audits to mitigate the impact (financial and reputational) on Haleon.
  • Entering into commercial negotiations with local tax authorities as necessary.
  • Build open and transparent relationships with the relevant authorities across the different territories in the region.
  • Support Business Development proposals to ensure all M, A & D are implemented in a tax-efficient manner with no material tax findings upon subsequent audits.
  • Lead the cultural change by putting into practice the Win as One behaviors.
