The Tax Data Management Lead supports the Tax Data Management team by serving as a functional subject matter expert (SME) across tax data, proactive case processes, and robotic process automation (RPA). This role functions as a support for team questions and ensures timely and accurate resolution of customer inquiries. The Lead plays a critical role in fostering team efficiency, consistency, and overall success.

Requirements

• Proven experience with RPA and case automation tools, with the ability to manage complex batch-driven processes
• Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to take initiative, lead tasks, and drive work forward independently
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset and keen attention to detail
• Skilled in root cause analysis and comfortable making decisions with limited information
• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
• Strong understanding of payroll tax rules, including multistate and SUI requirements, and tax data management processes
• Knowledge of quality assurance principles, techniques, and best practices
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong focus on customer service and internal collaboration
• Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive issues
• Strong organizational and time management skills with a focus on prioritization and follow-through
• Collaborative and team-oriented, with the ability to build effective relationships and contribute to a high-performing culture
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills required
• Associate degree
• 2+ years of payroll tax experience
• Working knowledge and language of Payroll and Payroll Tax functions

Nice To Haves

• Payroll tax outsourcing experience preferred
• Experience with ERP systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms preferred

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary technical backup for the team, supporting daily team operations and performance monitoring
• Launch, manage, and/or approve monthly and ad hoc mass proactive case campaigns across Tax using RPA tools, based on standard cycles, agency communications, and internal business needs.
• Act as a functional SME by providing direction, answering team questions, and assisting with training, documentation, and process improvement initiatives
• Lead strategic analysis and reporting, identifying trends and opportunities, developing meaningful metrics and reporting, improving data consistency and case execution, and supporting additional projects and strategic initiatives as needed.
• Analyze and interpret tax and payroll data at the employer and employee level to identify data issues or opportunities for proactive resolution
• Collaborates cross-functionally with internal departments and teams across the organization, serving as a subject matter resource for tax code setup, rate research, and other tax-related inquiries. Provides support and guidance to ensure accurate and compliant tax configurations.
• Assist team members with report interpretation (e.g., PBI) and resolution strategies to maintain accuracy and compliance
• Provide timely, professional responses to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery
• Identify trends and report recurring issues or opportunities for improvement to leadership
• Contribute to special projects, team initiatives, and process enhancements aligned with department goals
• Meet quality and productivity metrics while fostering a positive, collaborative team environment
