About The Position

The Tax Business Systems Manager is responsible for advancing the operational, technology, and strategic capabilities of the Tax Practice. This role serves as the primary business partner between Tax leadership, Technology Services, vendors, and operational teams, ensuring the practice has the systems, processes, data, and solutions necessary to support growth, modernization, and a best-in-class employee and client experience. This role also serves as one of the lead collaborators and internal practice leaders with the Tax Transformation Team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management or a related field required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of experience in Information Technology customer service.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft products and PC hardware required.
  • Able to independently analyze information and make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Able to communicate technical information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work on multiple projects and meet deadlines by setting priorities with work projects.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and clients.
  • Understanding of service level agreements and how they affect the Firm.
  • Working knowledge of PC software, such as Microsoft Windows and Office, and PC and printer hardware.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now or in the future without visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the business owner for the Tax technology ecosystem, including applications, integrations, vendor relationships, product roadmaps, platform performance, and technology lifecycle management.
  • Leads evaluations of emerging Tax technologies, software enhancements, replacement solutions, upgrades, migrations, retirements, and vendor offerings and provides recommendations to Tax leadership.
  • Develops and maintains technology investment, licensing, and portfolio strategies that align with Tax Practice objectives.
  • Partners with Tax leadership, Technology Services, OST, ITS, Procurement, vendors, and other stakeholders to align technology decisions with business priorities.
  • Analyzes Tax workflows, operational processes, data flows, and system utilization to identify opportunities for automation, standardization, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Translates business and operational needs into functional and technical requirements and provides guidance on solution design and implementation.
  • Coordinates technology implementations, enhancements, testing activities, change management efforts, and user adoption initiatives.
  • Maintains technology enhancement backlogs, prioritization frameworks, governance processes, and business cases for technology investments and improvement initiatives.
  • Monitors technology performance, user feedback, and operational effectiveness and implements improvements that enhance employee and client experiences.
  • Leads technology due diligence, application assessments, integration planning, and operational readiness activities related to mergers and acquisitions.
  • Oversees technology integration efforts for acquired firms, including system migration, data conversion, onboarding, transition planning, and post-acquisition optimization.
  • Develops and maintains methodologies, standards, governance practices, and playbooks that support technology integration, modernization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with Tax leadership and the Tax Transformation team to identify capability gaps across people, process, technology, and data and develop future-state solutions and roadmaps.
  • Leads or co-leads strategic Tax modernization initiatives, including Tax 2030 and Service Line Modernization efforts, by evaluating opportunities, defining priorities, assessing feasibility, and driving implementation.
  • Provides strategic analysis and recommendations regarding technology investments, operational improvements, modernization priorities, capability development initiatives, and long-term Tax Practice strategy.
  • Ensures timely and accurate performance on assigned projects.
  • Maintains compliance with project budgets, turnaround times, and deadlines.
