About The Position
Sands Anderson, a full-service, mid-sized law firm in the Mid-Atlantic region, is expanding its tax practice and seeks a Tax Attorney to provide expert advice and representation on tax-related matters. The firm has more than 80 attorneys and six offices throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Candidates may work from any office; those open to relocation are encouraged to apply and may be considered for a competitive relocation package. The Tax Attorney will analyze tax laws, prepare legal documents, represent clients in tax disputes, and provide strategic tax-planning guidance. The salary range is $180,000 to $250,000, with the higher end reserved for attorneys with a book of business. Sands Anderson accepts only direct applications from candidates and will not accept submissions through search firms or legal recruiters.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in Virginia or North Carolina.
- At least 6 years of experience practicing tax law.
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.

Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on tax issues and interpret tax laws.
- Advise clients on tax implications and strategies.
- Prepare and review tax-related documents, including tax returns, agreements, and filings.
- Represent clients in tax audits, negotiations, and litigation.
- Develop tax-planning strategies to minimize tax liability.
