About The Position

Doeren Mayhew is seeking a Tax Associate to join its Hendersonville, Tennessee office. The role prepares and reviews individual and business income tax returns, provides tax planning and research, supports clients with accounting and QuickBooks needs, and helps train less experienced associates. The position requires working in the office.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least 1–2 years of experience preparing individual, partnership, corporation, and S corporation tax returns.
• Experience with the Microsoft Office suite and QuickBooks.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of individual and business taxation, and federal and state tax laws.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines.
• Ability to work with large amounts of data and quickly adapt to new technology platforms.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Willingness and ability to work in the office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state individual and business income tax returns, including partnership, corporation, and S corporation returns.
• Prepare other types of tax returns as necessary.
• Meet with clients outside of tax season to address tax planning needs.
• Prepare tax planning scenarios based on assumptions.
• Research tax matters and regulatory agencies, and provide guidance to clients.
• Develop and maintain professional rapport with clients.
• Prepare clients’ accounting through financial statements.
• Assist clients with QuickBooks, including training, monthly write-up work, and general program support.
• Train new and less experienced associates on firm technology, processes, and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
