About The Position

The Tax Analyst will be responsible for preparing and filing various tax returns, supporting government audits, managing fixed asset depreciation, and identifying tax savings opportunities. This role requires collaboration with internal teams and external consultants, staying current on tax laws, and implementing process improvements. The analyst will also develop direct tax skills by assisting with income tax returns and other tax projects.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, CPA or similar experience
  • 2+ years of tax experience
  • Sales and use tax experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Property tax experience
  • Curiosity and a strong willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills, motivation, and confidence to address issues independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Hyperion financial systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns across multiple states.
  • Support related government audits by responding to notices, meeting with auditors, and researching relevant tax positions.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and gather information needed to prepare property tax returns, pay property tax bills, and support related government audits.
  • Collaborate closely with plant personnel and corporate finance to obtain fixed asset, invoice, and general ledger information needed for tax filings.
  • Respond to plant inquiries on tax and depreciation matters.
  • Reconcile tax data to the financial records.
  • Manage the fixed asset tax depreciation process, including maintaining tax basis and book/tax differences.
  • Respond to plant inquiries regarding the SAGE depreciation system.
  • Complete compliance requirements for U.S. domestic incentives, including tracking compliance obligations and reporting deadlines.
  • Assist in negotiating incentives with state and local agencies.
  • Identify sales and use and property tax savings opportunities and implement related business process improvements.
  • Stay current on tax law changes and regulatory pronouncements and assess their impact on the Company.
  • Identify and implement technology and automation improvements within business processes.
  • Develop direct tax skills by assisting with U.S. federal, state, and local income tax returns, R&D tax credit studies, and international tax forms such as Forms 5471.
  • Assist with other tax projects as needed.
