The Tax Analyst will be a key member of a small, highly functioning tax department at a public insurance company. The role supports compliance and accounting for assessments, premium tax, and income tax in a deadline-sensitive environment. The position is described as a 100% remote opportunity, although the work-environment section says the employee is required to work a hybrid schedule in the Reno, Nevada office, with occasional minimal travel to other office or meeting locations. The role includes preparing periodic premium tax and assessment filings, analyzing data from diverse systems, maintaining supporting schedules and workpapers, and managing deadlines for assigned areas. It also supports federal, state, and local income tax compliance; quarterly and annual GAAP and STAT income tax provisions; account reconciliations; deferred tax analyses; return-to-provision adjustments; and intercompany settlements. The analyst may work independently to interpret and apply state regulations and instructions and is expected to learn and improve department methods and procedures. The role is largely sedentary and routinely uses office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and web-conferencing technology. Some mobility is required, and occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds may be required. Early, late, or occasional weekend hours may be needed to accommodate business needs.
