The Ohio Department of Taxation is responsible for the administration of individual and business taxes across the state. The Ohio Department of Taxation is seeking to fill one (1) Tax Analyst position in the Tax Analysis Division. The purpose of the Tax Analysis Division is to maintain a continuous study of the practical operation of all taxation and revenue laws of the state, the manner in which and extent to which such laws provide revenues for the support of the state and its political subdivisions, the probable effect upon such revenue of possible changes in existing laws, and the possible enactment of measures providing for other forms of taxation.

Requirements

  • Completion of graduate core program in economics, statistics, business administration or public administration
  • 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in use of statistical software (e.g., SAS), query languages & data base analysis techniques
  • 36mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in tax law & government structure & process (e.g., laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders & agency rules pertaining to taxation)
  • 36 mos. trg. or 36 mos. exp. in academic analytical research
  • Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating the impact of proposed tax changes on state tax receipts
  • Analyzing existing taxes for revenue impact and providing forecasts of future results
  • Conducting research on tax policy issues
