About The Position

The Tax Accounting Alternative Investments team prepares tax workpapers, returns, and necessary tax filings for our alternative investment fund clients. Most of this team’s clients are also fund accounting clients who come to UMB to get our full service offering. This group is a growing team that continues to add to our client portfolio. The Tax Accounting Specialist role supports UMB by handling an increasing level of responsibility within our Tax Accounting Alternative Investments team, all surrounding the gathering and tracking of client tax documents, creating of initial tax returns, and corresponding with clients as needed. This role is designed to be a full-time internship where you will gain real world experience and contribute valuable work. This role can can run for a full year from January through December, or if a full year internship is not possible UMB may consider candidates for the Spring time of January through April. In this role you can expect to learn and master many different tax accounting functions and principles all while working with an experienced and fun team! Working in the Tax Accounting team at UMB can be fun, challenging, interesting and empowering. We are very team oriented and have a lot of fun together. Requirements

  • Completed at least two years in an undergraduate program in a business related field
  • Organized individual who works well as part of a team and thrives in a detailed and deadline driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients through phone and e-mail to ensure all necessary tax documents have been received.
  • Operate Excel and UMB Systems to input tax documents and prepare tax returns.
  • Distribute tax documents to client investors for their use in individual tax return preparations.
