About The Position
The EVERNORTH Tax Department is seeking an Experienced Tax Professional for a Tax Accounting Advisor role that will directly support its GAAP Accounting operations. The Tax Department is known throughout the company for its technical innovation. Tax Accounting Advisors are encouraged to not only develop their own job specific technical competencies but to expand their skills across the department in different areas of taxation.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree with a concentration in Accounting.
- 5+ years of Public Accounting or Corporate Tax (income tax experience is a must).
- Must be able to demonstrate competencies in corporate income tax (federal and state) and working in a team environment.
- Accounting, ASC 740 (f/k/a FAS 109) knowledge is a must.
- Exposure to a variety of software applications, including tax provision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications is a must.
Nice To Haves
- Masters in Taxation or CPA, a plus.
- Public Accounting firm or Big 4, a plus.
Responsibilities
- Assist with GAAP tax accounting including interim and year end calculations, and corresponding tax footnote preparation.
- Assists in the coordination and review of the Cigna's consolidated tax provisions.
- Assist with the Tax Department’s Sarbanes/Oxley compliance program.
- Utilizes independent judgment and discretion while working on tax research and special projects.
- Demonstrates ownership of cyclical responsibilities, and the ability to manage various tasks simultaneously during peak periods.
- Develops strong working relationships with team members and internal accounting and Finance contacts.
- Acts as a resource on special projects including support and participation in tax planning initiatives.
- Actively contributes to building a high performance culture and a positive work environment.
- May provide functional advice or training to less experienced tax accountants.
- Focuses on providing thought leadership within Tax Accounting but works on broader projects, which require understanding of wider business.
- Recognized internally as a subject matter expert.
