About The Position

MG Properties is seeking a detail-oriented and deadline-driven Tax Accountant to support the Tax Director in managing the company’s income tax function. This position will assist with tax preparation for partnerships owned and controlled by MG Properties and its affiliates, including preparation of federal and state partnership returns and Schedule K-1s. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, experience working with partnership tax structures, and the ability to accurately manage a high volume of tax filings across multiple entities. Please note this position is in office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including experience working with formulas and large workbooks.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet established deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dependable and proactive, with consistent follow-through.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with multi-tiered real estate partnership structures and allocations, preferred.
  • Real estate or partnership tax experience, preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant, CPA, or Enrolled Agent, EA, certification, preferred.
  • Experience using CCH Axcess, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare federal Form 1065 partnership returns, Schedule K-1s, and applicable state tax returns for delivery to investors by the unextended March 15 filing deadline.
  • Prepare, organize, and coordinate the federal and state income tax return process for more than 100 company entities each year.
  • Help ensure the timely filing of tax returns and distribution of Schedule K-1s to partners.
  • Work with large Excel workbooks to calculate taxable income using complex formulas.
  • Calculate book-to-tax differences and prepare related journal entries.
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly state and local tax filings.
  • Calculate and coordinate state extension filings and payments.
  • Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals.
  • Communicate with federal, state, and local taxing authorities regarding notices received.
  • Prepare and review journal entries.
  • Perform other tax and accounting-related responsibilities as assigned.
