About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. This role involves preparing and reviewing federal, state, and local income tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments. It also includes supporting quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations and related financial reporting. The position requires researching and interpreting tax laws and regulations, partnering with internal stakeholders for tax implications and strategic guidance, assisting with tax audits and examinations, and supporting tax aspects of business initiatives. Additionally, the role focuses on identifying and implementing process improvements for tax reporting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of tax accounting experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate tax accounting, compliance, and financial reporting.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and tax provision concepts.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial and tax data and develop practical recommendations.
  • Proficiency with tax software (OneSource Income Tax (OIT) and Tax Provision (OTP)), ERP systems (SAP) , and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments.
  • Support quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision calculations and related financial reporting.
  • Research and interpret tax laws and regulations to assess impacts and support compliance.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to analyze tax implications and provide strategic guidance.
  • Assist with tax audits, examinations, and responses to taxing authorities.
  • Support tax aspects of acquisitions, reorganizations, and other business initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance tax reporting accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
