Tax Accountant

About The Position

As a Tax Accountant, you will help support accurate, timely tax reporting across the organization. You will prepare property tax statements, review assessments and supporting work papers, coordinate payments and filings, and assist with appeals and audits when needed. You will also contribute to indirect tax compliance, including federal and state excise tax, sales and use tax, and business tax returns. Along the way, you will maintain tax calendars and records, conduct tax research, and communicate clearly with management regarding the status of returns, audits, and appeals. This role is well suited for someone who combines accounting knowledge with thoughtful analysis, attention to detail, and dependable follow-through. You will have opportunities to take initiative, improve processes, learn from challenges, and help the team meet important compliance obligations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of experience in accounting reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience, including Excel and Access
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Required to be 18 years or older

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting plus 5 years experience in accounting, public accounting, or general corporate tax reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
  • Master’s degree in taxation
  • CPA
  • Experience with SAP and/or JD Edwards ERP System
  • Experience with PTMS property tax software
  • Experience with RIA/CCH Online Research Software
  • Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Experience writing reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Experience effectively presenting information and responding to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public
  • Skilled in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions
  • Skilled in interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Skilled in performing work that is varied and may be somewhat difficult in character, usually involving limited responsibility, requiring frequent evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity
  • Understands and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of this field of specialization
