The Tax Accountant Intern will gain real-world experience working on meaningful tax projects that combine accounting, tax, and technology. This internship is designed for students who want hands-on exposure beyond traditional coursework and are curious about how tax teams operate inside a large organization. You’ll work closely with a small, collaborative tax team on projects driven by real business needs—ranging from tax law changes to process improvement and automation. Along the way, you’ll build practical skills, contribute to work that has lasting impact, and gain visibility across multiple areas of the company. Program Details and Requirements: Premera’s Summer Internship Program is June 15th – August 21st, 2026. To be eligible for the program, you must currently be enrolled in either an undergraduate or graduate degree program or have recently obtained your degree (within the last 12 months). This is a hybrid internship program located on our campus in Mountlake Terrace, WA.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or master's degree program in Accounting/Tax, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or have recently obtained your degree (within the last 12 months) (Required)
  • Foundational tax knowledge
  • Ability to blend tax and technology – comfort working with systems and data while understanding tax concepts
  • Process documentation skills – ability to clearly document, organize, and maintain evolving tax processes in a central, shared location
  • Strong learning mindset and attitude

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the documentation and organization of new processes related to Washington sales and use tax law changes
  • Supporting the automation of tax-related reports by connecting Workday data with OfficeConnect tools
  • Helping improve the efficiency and accuracy of tax reporting and data management
  • Creating clear, well-organized documentation and resources that can be shared across teams
  • Collaborating with tax, finance, and other internal partners to support cross-functional initiative
