About The Position

As a Task Supervisor, you will be supervising the development and implementation of activities in production area(s) to meet production goals, quality, and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, layouts and process worksheets and inspect parts.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assign and supervise the work of production employees to meet all quality requirements and production schedules.
  • Enforce company policies, safety rules, and good housekeeping.
  • Taking appropriate corrective actions when necessary.
  • Evaluate performance of all employees, and take corrective action when appropriate.
  • Interview applicants and make recommendations on the hiring of new employees.
  • Arrange for maintenance repairs of equipment and tools.
  • Manage production workers, assign tasks, and organize workflows. This includes coaching, training, mentoring, and sometimes disciplining employees.
  • Motivate the team and ensure everyone understands their roles.
  • Collaborate with first shift supervisor to set daily, weekly, and monthly production goals.
  • Perform inspections, implement quality control measures, and take corrective actions when issues arise.
  • Enforce safety protocols, conduct safety training, identify and correct hazards, and ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (in food/pharma), PPE requirements, and other legal standards.
  • Investigate accidents when they occur.
  • Analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies, suggest improvements, implement cost reductions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives (like Lean manufacturing).
  • Oversee the safe and proper use of machinery.
  • Schedule preventive maintenance, call for repairs when needed, and evaluate new equipment or techniques to reduce downtime.
  • Record production data, prepare shift summaries and reports on output, efficiency, quality, and issues.
  • Present updates to senior management and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ensure raw materials, supplies, and inventory are available and properly managed.
  • Coordinate with other departments (maintenance, quality, supply chain, etc.) for smooth operations.
  • Quickly address production issues such as equipment failures, material shortages, staffing problems, or process delays.
