The Taproom Server acts as the primary server for guests in their assigned station and works closely with a bus person to provide an enjoyable guest experience. The role maintains high service standards and safeguards the quality of food served. Before meal service, the server attends roll call, receives a service assignment, learns the menu and any special circumstances in the station, and stocks water, condiments, and other supplies. During service, the server welcomes guests, takes orders, serves and clears courses according to established procedures, keeps the station clean, and works to create a pleasant experience. After service, the server buses remaining dishes to the kitchen, washes silver according to guidelines, cleans and resets the station, and checks out with the service captain. The work takes place mainly in the dining room, with occasional use of other service areas and frequent trips to the kitchen. The schedule includes weekends and holidays and may involve long hours each day. The server must be able to remain on their feet for long periods, carry trays weighing from one to fifty pounds, and assist with moving furniture for meals or special functions. Hazards include spills or grease on walking surfaces, broken glassware or china, and hot food, dishes, and beverages.
