About The Position

As Tankerman Supervisor, you will be responsible for manned and un-manned tankerman activities, training, transfer inspections, audits, evaluations, and assignments. This role involves the day-to-day supervision of all CLA manned and un-manned Tankerman activities during transfer operations, providing continuous on-the-job training, and conducting routine transfer inspections and audits. You will also conduct initial tankerman skills reviews, yearly performance evaluations, and be a lead in the hiring process for new tankermen. The position requires direct supervision of complicated or sensitive transfer operations, close collaboration with CLA team members to ensure safe and efficient operations, and participation in the development of new programs, policies, and procedures. Weekly operational reports are to be submitted, and you may be required to cover extra barge work. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of USEC Operations.

Requirements

  • At least three (3) years of tank barge experience.
  • A valid USCG Issued MMC with a Tankerman PIC dangerous liquids.
  • A good working knowledge of all State and Federal regulatory compliance regarding the transfer and carriage of petroleum products over water.
  • Ability to provide leadership and direction to Tankerman.
  • Must possess a high degree of management communications oral and written.
  • Ability to maintain direction and composure under extreme conditions and meet established goals and objectives.
  • Must be a self-motivator and be able to motivate others.
  • Ability to train assigned workers.
  • Must be able to fairly evaluate subordinates.
  • Must be able to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Valid state drivers’ license.
  • Valid TWIC.
  • Must be able to communicate in English and effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day supervision of all CLA manned and un-manned Tankerman activities during transfer operations and provide continuous on the job training at the direction of Director of USEC Operations and Barge Operations Supervisor.
  • Routinely conducting transfer inspections and audits of all CLA barge operations and Tankermen.
  • Conduct initial tankerman skills review and yearly performance evaluations, and be a lead in the hiring process of potential new tankerman.
  • Directly supervise complicated or sensitive transfer operations at the direction of the Barge Operations Supervisor and Director of USEC Operations.
  • Be able to work closely with CLA team members to ensure a safe, efficient and reliable operation.
  • Participate in the development of new programs, policies, and procedures to enhance the quality of our operation.
  • Submit weekly operational reports to the Barge Operations Supervisor.
  • Cover extra barge work at the direction of the Barge Operations Supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of USEC Operations.
