Tank Wagon Driver
About The Position
Sunoco LP is hiring a Tank Wagon Driver in Cedar City, Utah, to transport and deliver propane or fuel safely and professionally while providing exceptional customer service. The role involves operating pumps and valves, filling tanks, coordinating with dispatchers and customers, maintaining delivery and vehicle records, and following applicable safety requirements for transporting dangerous goods. Drivers complete inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment and report defects, incidents, or damage promptly. The position requires maintaining current knowledge of relevant transportation and safety training, including TDG and WHMIS, and keeping electronic and daily trip logs up to date.
Requirements
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL.
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements are required at the time of hire, though not required when applying.
- Current DOT Medical Card required at the time of hire and ability to maintain it.
- Clean driving record and clean commercial abstract in good standing.
- Satisfactorily complete a pre-employment DOT drug screen and background check.
- Positive attitude and strong focus on exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated safe driving practices.
Nice To Haves
- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements at the time of application.
- TWIC credential.
- Previous commercial driving experience.
Responsibilities
- Operate pumps and valves on and off the truck and fill tanks using hoses, nozzles, and fittings of various sizes.
- Coordinate with dispatchers, management, customers, and fellow employees to address delivery issues and fulfill customer orders.
- Maintain effective working relationships to ensure customer needs are met.
- Complete required paperwork and maintain records in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.
- Provide accurate accident, safety, and other required reports; maintain work-hour and vehicle-service or repair logs.
- Follow safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods and inspect trucks, trailers, and equipment to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Immediately report vehicle defects, incidents, traffic violations, and damage to trucks, trailers, or equipment.
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions and verify that vehicles and loading equipment are properly positioned.
- Demonstrate safe work and risk-management practices; communicate and enforce safety and security requirements and report employee or customer incidents and unsafe acts according to company policy.
- Maintain the confidentiality of collected and stored data.
- Meet performance expectations and complete duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Deliver products safely and professionally with exceptional customer service.
- Load and deliver propane or fuel in accordance with Parkland's safety standards.
- Keep electronic and daily trip logs current and submit them daily.
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of TDG, WHMIS, and required training.
