About The Position

The Tank Room Operator is responsible for preparing, mixing, and maintaining resin and chemical solutions used in composite manufacturing. This includes monitoring tank levels, ensuring proper mixing ratios, handling chemicals safely, recording batch data, and adhering to all safety and quality standards. The operator must follow detailed work instructions, maintain accurate records, and support production by ensuring resin supply meets demand.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSE).
  • 1+ years of experience in manufacturing or chemical handling preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems.
  • Understanding of safe chemical handling, mixing procedures, and environmental compliance.
  • Proficiency in reading and following technical instructions, shop routers, and safety data sheets (SDS).
  • Good mechanical aptitude and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow precise mixing and measuring procedures.
  • Frequently required to reach and use hands and arms continuously.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

  • Technical training in chemical handling or resin processing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare resin, hardeners, and additives according to detailed work instruction, ensuring correct ratios and mixing times.
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain resin storage and mixing tanks.
  • Perform visual inspections of tanks, mixers, and associated equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Conduct quality checks on resin batches and record test results.
  • Safely handle, label, and store chemicals in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Monitor tank levels throughout the shift and coordinate with production to prevent downtime.
  • Clean and maintain tanks, mixers, and work areas per established procedures.
  • Complete required batch records, production logs, and material usage documentation.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, quality concerns, or safety hazards to the team lead, supervisor, or manager immediately.
  • Adhere to all PPE, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and chemical handling procedures.
  • Monitor and achieve established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as production output, quality standards, efficiency, and safety compliance, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with company goals.
  • Keep work area clean and organized to prevent safety hazards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
