Requirements

  • High School diploma or completed GED.
  • Proficiency in math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning with strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift; weekends; holidays; overtime; and respond to callouts.
  • Ability and willingness to serve as member of Emergency Response Team.
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Walking, bending, stooping is required.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

Nice To Haves

  • Process Technology Degree or 2 years' relevant work experience preferred (e.g. production, electrical, loading, or maintenance) in the military, chemical plant, or manufacturing environment.
  • NDT: bubble leak and chemical reactivity testing certifications preferred.
  • Prior operations, maintenance, electrical, or related industrial experience preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the safe, environmentally sound, and efficient operation of various processes and equipment associated with the loading, repair, inspection and shipping of tank cars and tank trucks.
  • Effectively communicate with all plant personnel and operator being relieved.
  • Generate work notifications to address issues utilizing SAP.
  • Evaluate process equipment for maintenance repair.
  • Prepare equipment for plant maintenance work such as locking out equipment, preparing permits and verifying equipment.
  • Respond to onsite emergencies as part as the ERT and offsite CERP emergencies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and neat work area.
  • Maintain and record daily shop and process activities in logbook and provide adequate relief.
  • Preform and assist in preforming routine tank car repair work, tank car inspections, tank car equipment inspections, incoming material, parts, fittings and gasket inspections. All must be accomplished according to standard operating procedures, Quality Assurance Program procedures, AAR MRSP C-III M-1002 and AAR MSRP Section J M-1003.
  • Notify supervision regarding process equipment and all tank car repair equipment issues.
  • Responsible for completing all DOT, Taft plant and corporate training before the due dates.
  • Responsible for completing two KPA audits every quarter.
  • Responsible for attention one HES safety meeting a month.
  • Responsible for completing all MOC, training and action requirements in Frontline system before due date.
  • Responsible for reviewing railcar drawings.
  • Responsible for connecting and disconnecting tanks cars on blowdown, air sweep, water filling tank car process, and removal and replacement of tank car service equipment.
  • Responsible for properly storing tank car service equipment, parts, and gaskets.
  • Must be able to get inside of a tank car to perform tank car cleaning and visual inspection of interior tank.
  • Responsible for daily inspecting, testing and maintaining all tank car repair certified/calibrated tools and equipment to QAP procedures standards.
  • Responsible for making sure all tank car repair tools and equipment that are certified are in date and not pass due calibration date.
  • Responsible for creating purchase requisitions for tank car valve rebuilding/reconditioning, parts, gaskets and other equipment instructed by T&D supervision.
  • Responsible for the packaging and shipping of tank car valves per QAP procedures.
  • Responsible for performing outbound and 24-hour inspections that are assigned for shipment.
  • Must be able to climb on and off tank cars in a safe manner, get underneath tank cars. Outbound inspection may consist of 0 to 90 cars a day and 24-hour inspections are determined on the number of cars that were loaded each day.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain NDT certification to perform BLT and CRLT.
  • Must hold qualification in blowdown area.
  • Must hold forklift certification.
  • Must be a member of the CERP team.
  • Must be able to train other tank car repair and blowdown personnel.
  • Must be knowledgeable of CL2 emergency C-Kit equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts necessary to repair and rework railcars.
  • Communicate with the switch crew for railcar placement at tank car repair.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate records of all repairs made.
  • Electronic filing tank car paperwork in the car file folder in S:drive.
  • Monitoring railcars for shop vs. railcars needed for use.
  • Perform work in a manner that reinforces OxyChem quality standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Reviewing and following the QAP (Quality Assurance Program)
  • Participates and accepts responsibility for meeting plant and individual PSM goals and monthly spreadsheet responsibilities as required by HESP-610 Procedure.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance Program and AAR M-1002 & M-1003 railcar repair shop certification audits.
  • Actively participates in plant Health, Environmental, Safety and Security (HESS) programs to assure a safe and environmentally sound workplace, including accountability for meeting plant safety goals and various other requirements including training, work permits, critical items inspections, job observations, general housekeeping, reporting hazards and issues, and working safely in job assignments.
  • Supports and fulfills the requirements of the plant’s ISO Quality System.
  • Follows the procedures for ISO and Railroad Quality Assurance Programs to meet OCC’s quality policies for conducting business that exceeds expectations and needs of our customers in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
  • Complete any additional responsibilities assigned by Plant Management.
