About The Position

We are currently seeking a Talent Attraction Specialist to join our team. The Talent Attraction Specialists acts as a brand ambassador and talent scout to attract and recruit the best candidates in the market, fulfilling current and future hiring needs.  The position leads and executes the full-cycle recruitment process from development of recruiting plans and creative sourcing strategies through to onboarding successful candidates. The Specialist participates and may lead some talent acquisition projects and initiatives and establishes strong relationships to ensure a positive candidate and hiring manager experience.

Requirements

  • 3 years of recent experience working directly with equity deserving groups and communities is required; 2-3 years’ experience in HR, as a Talent Attraction Specialist is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or Business or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience required
  • Strong understanding of DEIB principles and best practices
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Demonstrated coaching, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Willingness to think outside the box and advise on creative new ideas for sourcing key talent
  • Comprehensive understanding of the full cycle recruitment process
  • Displays an understanding of risk and risk ownership by being able to demonstrate adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards (BC, ON, AB), Human Rights legislation and the Accessible Canada Act

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in talent attraction with a focus on DEIB preferred.
  • Experience working in financial institution and/or credit union industry preferred.
  • Lived experience as an equity-deserving group member (preferably within the Indigenous communities) is preferred, with a deep understanding of a variety of cultures, traditions, and the unique challenges faced by equity deserving job seekers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Indigenous peoples in social contexts, and knowledge and appreciation of the unique history, cultures, and rights of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. (an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment: Assists the Talent Attraction team with sourcing and recruitment. Participates in careers fairs, interview & resume writing clinics, and other programs supporting equity-deserving groups in the community. Provides guidance, tools and resources to hiring teams on inclusive and equitable hiring practices and unconscious bias mitigation, to effectively hire and integrate talent into the organization. Regularly monitors and ensures alignment with DEIB trends, emerging hiring practices, and relevant legislation.
  • Relationship Building: Builds and nurtures relationships with hiring managers, job seekers, and relevant communities and organizations, integrating perspectives and practices that ensure culturally respectful interactions with all candidates. Fosters relationships with academic institutions, professional organizations, and community groups. Implements, sustains, and improves recruitment programs, such as our Student Hiring Program and Scholarship/Bursary programs.
  • Engagement and Workplace Readiness: Assists with developing and executing plans for community engagement, including training, identifying partners, and outreach. Offers expert advice, experience and support in the development and execution of the Talent Attraction plan (with a focus on DEIB). 
  • Organizational Readiness: With support of their Manager, Talent Attraction and Program Manager, DEIB, develop internal training plans, partner with internal team members, and consult with external community members, to ensure the organization is ready to support new team members and foster meaningful relationships with external communities.
  • Orientation and Onboarding: Supports an equitable and accessible onboarding process to enhance the success of new team members during their first two years of employment. This includes facilitating orientation sessions, following up with new hires and leaders, and ensuring that onboarding needs are met. Additionally, creates an environment where team members feel welcome, valued, and included from day one, emphasizing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) as integral parts of your workplace culture.
