Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience performing alterations on luxury men's and women's clothing.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and consistently meet customer deadlines.
  • Strong knowledge of fitting and basic sewing techniques, as well as advanced alteration skills.
  • Understanding of merchandise fit, size gradients, and brand specifications.
  • Expertise in advising customers and sales associates on merchandise fit and alterations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and clean workspace by following all procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Personalize each garment by recording detailed alterations and instructions, attaching them to garments for seamless workflow.
  • Analyze garment tags to identify and execute necessary alterations, contributing to the perfect fit and refined silhouette.
  • Enhance comfort and structure by inserting padding and shaping materials, elevating the quality of luxury clothing.
  • Expertly sew buttonholes and attach buttons to complete each garment with precision and flair.
  • Perform stylish garment modifications, such as tapering pant legs, refining lapels, and adjusting padding, to stay at the forefront of fashion trends.
  • Maintain impeccable garment drape and proportions throughout the alteration process.
  • Adjust hems to customize the length of sleeves and other garment parts, creating a tailored look for every client.
  • Repair or replace garment components, including pockets, zippers, snaps, buttons, and linings, ensuring durability and luxury.
  • Press garments with hand irons or pressing machines to achieve a flawless finish.
  • Craft made-to-measure clothing, fit, alter, and repair pieces according to customer and manufacturer specifications, applying your knowledge of garment design and construction.
  • Measure and mark alteration lines on garment parts, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Remove stitches as needed to prepare garments for alteration.
  • Sew garments using needles, thread, or sewing machines, demonstrating your attention to detail and craftsmanship.
  • Adjust seams in suits and other garments to enhance fit and comfort.
  • Trim excess material and assemble garment parts, joining them with basting stitches for a seamless result.
  • Fitters Only: Measure customers, record measurements, and fit garments to determine and implement required alterations.
