About The Position

Tailings Dam Operator II is a skilled process-environment role operating material-handling systems and related processing equipment, with possible minor maintenance duties. The employee works under minimal supervision in an environment where safe production is the primary objective. The position is based at Freeport-McMoRan’s Bagdad operations in Arizona.

Requirements

• At least two years in a trade.
• Experience with material-handling equipment.
• Completion of required academic and practical competencies, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable, and experience demonstrating the required aptitude.
• Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills and pass a written assessment where required; the assessment may cover skills, abilities, academic knowledge, and safety.
• Pass required training and/or testing.
• May be required to pass a medical exam.
• Must complete mandatory pre-employment drug testing and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.

Responsibilities

• Perform area housekeeping, including shoveling, using a fire hose, and digging.
• Operate and control processing equipment according to operating guidelines.
• Operate mobile equipment.
• Monitor equipment using computers and enter data via computer.
• Identify, report, and assist with machinery maintenance needs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
