The supervisor will work closely with the Portland Police Bureau, maintain logs, file reports, and communicate via radio. Adherence to Oregon State law and DPSST certification standards is required, along with further training in de-escalation, mental health crisis response, and trauma-informed care.

Requirements

  • Previous military, law enforcement, or armed guard experience.
  • High school education or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to pass an extensive screening process.
  • At least 1 year of armed security experience.
  • Security Supervising experience.
  • A valid state driver's license.
  • A clean MVR (Motor Vehicle Report).
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.
  • DPSST certification standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in duties such as scheduling, performance reports, continuing in-service training, crew and program evaluation, and disciplinary action.
  • Willingness to be uniformed and radio-equipped to communicate and allow contact with the Portland Police Bureau Clean & Safe Officers through the District communications center.
  • Access to a vehicle to facilitate quick response times for calls for service.
  • Willingness to attempt to stop criminal conduct and street disorder.
  • Understanding of avoiding participation in arrests or criminal investigations except in an emergency; or when specifically requested or directed by Portland Police Bureau officers to assist.
  • Fast thinker and quickly engage in problem-solving at the request of the Portland Police Bureau and community policing strategies.
  • Understanding the importance of maintaining a daily log and filing incident reports.
  • Knowledge that your radio is your best form of communication to Shift Supervisors, Portland Police Bureau officers, and other public agencies as required.
  • Commitment to further training beyond DPSST certification standards, specifically in de-escalation techniques, mental health crisis response, trauma-informed care interventions, and social service safety net referrals if requested.

Responsibilities
