About The Position

Ready to suit up as a Tactical Campus Security Guard? What matters most in a role like this is your ability to read the environment, anticipate risk and act accordingly. Your keen sense of observation and strong social skills are your greatest strengths. As a Tactical Security Guard, physical ability is essential as you will be moving around your entire shift, patrolling a post-secondary institution located at M5B 1Y2 (Downtown Toronto).

Requirements

  • Be authorized to work in Canada
  • Hold a valid Ontario security license
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout shift
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR level C certification
  • Completion of recognized basic self-defence training program, Criminal Code and Trespass to Property Act powers of arrest.
  • Will have proven attitude and performance attributes indicative of a community policing environment.
  • Be a self-starter with strong initiative.
  • Will have a proven ability to assist and support personnel and divisions.
  • Be able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks & responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol critical areas to spot any suspicious activity
  • Check identification and control access to secure areas
  • React quickly to threats or incidents and document actions taken
  • Check the proper functioning of alarms and cameras
  • Handle alarms and conduct on-site checks
  • Partner with law enforcement during serious incidents
  • Proactively patrol the University campus situated in the downtown core.
  • Respond to and document security occurrences, violations, hazards, suspicious activities, maintenance-related problems and other related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in on-scene emergency response.
  • Interpret and enforce the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act of Ontario and University regulations.
  • Work with the community on safety planning and community engagement initiatives.
  • Patrol in uniform by foot, bike or vehicle.
  • Work with and interact positively in a dynamic team atmosphere based on the principles of Community Policing.
  • Liaise and build relationships with the community and stakeholders to help foster community engagement.
  • This position will assume other duties as assigned on a case-by-case basis that may not be captured here.
