About The Position

The Boeing Company, Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Tactical RF Sensors Subsystem Lead Engineer to lead a team of engineers in Berkeley, MO, supporting a proprietary Air Dominance program. This role involves developing and integrating complex, highly integrated, radio frequency (RF) sensor systems, with a focus on Electronics Warfare capabilities. Responsibilities include enhancing existing architectures with new capabilities and architecting completely new systems. The position is within a cross-functional team integrating next-generation capabilities on a critically important development effort. The lead engineer will oversee and coordinate the work of a team throughout the program development life cycle, operating in an agile development environment to mature products, work on next-generation open-architecture model-based designs, and collaborate across multiple disciplines. Day-to-day activities include design engineering, coordinating the engineering team, approving technical work, collaborating with peers, and presenting technical challenges and solutions to leadership. Frequent interaction with program leadership, customers, and industry partners during critical design phases is expected. This position offers an opportunity to develop engineering skills with potential growth into a leadership role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 9+ years of related work experience and a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of related work experience and technical education
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
  • Requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily activity of an engineering team using agile toolsets (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Provides technical leadership and drives technical excellence for all scope of work within a subsystem team
  • Provides oversight and approval of technical approaches and engineering of subsystem team
  • Works with customers to develop and document complex electronic and electrical system requirements
  • Analyzes and translates requirements into system, hardware, and software designs and interface specifications
  • Tests and validates radio frequency (RF) systems to ensure designs meet operational and functional requirements
  • Manages and monitors supplier performance to ensure system integration and compliance with requirements
  • Solves problems and provides other support of fielded hardware and software over the entire product lifecycle
  • Researches specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs
  • Utilizes model-based systems engineering (MBSE) for hardware, software, and performance model development. Utilizes MBSE for requirements development, interfaces definition, and traceability
  • Hardware and software development, integration, test, and validation/verification
  • Radio frequency (RF) sensor integration
  • Supplier requirements development, technology evaluation, and integration across multi-disciplined engineering teams
  • Prototype hardware and software evaluation, lab integration, analysis, and test
  • Acts as primary interface between program leadership, suppliers, and customers
