About The Position

The Tactical Data Link (TDL) Analyst analyzes Link 16 and VMF data to ensure compliance with military standards, develops test plans and reports, and assesses tactical data link system performance. The role involves working with large datasets, conducting root cause analysis, and providing technical recommendations during test planning and execution. It requires expertise in tactical data link standards and data analysis tools.

The position is based in Camp Pendleton, California, and may be full-time or part-time. Standard business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; overtime is not expected. The role reports to the Assigned Program Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. A Top Secret security clearance is required. Travel is anticipated at 10%–15% within the continental United States and 5%–10% outside it.

Requirements

• Four years of experience using tools to analyze Link 16 and VMF data collected during a test event and verify messages conform to MIL-STDs.
• Working knowledge and understanding of one or more of MIL-STD-6016 (Link 16), MIL-STD-3011 (JREAP), MIL-STD-6017 (VMF), and MIL-STD-6020 (Data Forwarding).
• Demonstrated understanding and application of the Data Extraction and Reduction Guide (DERG).
• Expertise working with large datasets collected during test events and analyzing them to verify systems under test meet performance and system requirements.
• Advanced expertise in analyzing tactical data link communications, verifying compliance with military standards, and conducting performance assessments.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with specialized data analysis tools.
• Ability to develop detailed technical documentation and recommendations.
• Top Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with M&S tools such as BOSS or MLST3 to develop Link 16 scenarios and mission-based thread development.
• Experience with data analysis tools such as MANDRIL, NSITE, DEASIL, or Wireshark.
• Working knowledge and understanding of MIL-STD-6040 (USMTF), MIL-STD-6018 (CMF), and MIL-STD-6090 (CoT).

Responsibilities

• Analyze Link 16 and VMF data collected during test events to ensure messages conform to MIL-STDs.
• Apply knowledge of applicable tactical data link standards, including MIL-STD-6016 (Link 16), MIL-STD-3011 (JREAP), MIL-STD-6017 (VMF), and MIL-STD-6020 (Data Forwarding).
• Apply the Data Extraction and Reduction Guide (DERG).
• Analyze large datasets collected during test events to assess whether systems under test meet performance and system requirements.
