About The Position

Promote and ensure guest satisfaction. Sets places at dining tables, take orders, serves food and drinks according to reservations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two to Four years previous experience in serving food and drinks in a fine dining or hotel environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within an organization emphasizing teamwork, respect, and excellence.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other employees.
  • Fosters and promotes a cooperative and harmonious working climate.
  • Clear and pleasant communication.
  • Food Protection Certificate, issued by the Department of Health
  • This position requires full mobility and the ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds;
  • This position required the ability to walk and stand for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and prepares dining room and lounge area for events.
  • Keeps restaurant and station clean, sets up and takes down station appropriately.
  • Provides beginning to end high level service for all guests – including greeting newly seated guests in a warm and friendly manner within 30 second and answering questions about menu item ingredients, preparations and accompanying items.
  • Takes drink order at guest greeting, delivers beverages, takes entire order, and repeats order to guests for clarification. Communicate any additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, or restrictions to the kitchen.
  • Serves as wine steward responsible for serving, decanting, and recommending wines to accompany the chef’s menus. In addition, provides table side service of Caesar salad, meat, and fish carvings.
  • Attends to guests needs when delivering food and checks back to ensure guest satisfaction. Observe guests to ensure to respond to additional needs. Maintain table appearance by pre-bussing, checking drink levels, etc.
  • Totals bill using POS (Point-of Sale) computer system and presents check upon removal of last plate or upon request. Gives warm and pleasant farewell to guests and invites them to return.
  • Follows alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication of guests.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance.
  • Responsible for arranging all event food and beverages orders from the GFC; and delivering to specified NYP/WMC office and conference rooms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
