The T-38 Aircraft Branch Manager directs and coordinates the overall function of the T-38 Maintenance Department, overseeing 63 T-38 aircraft and 90 to 100 personnel. This role is crucial for ensuring that aircraft maintenance and flying schedules are executed safely, appropriately, and in accordance with the contract performance work statement/statement of work. The manager is responsible for enforcing strict adherence to technical data and management procedures, adjusting resources to meet production requirements, and assigning adequate supervisory coverage for each shift. Key duties include managing the special certification roster, ensuring accurate daily documentation of maintenance actions, assessing aircraft suitability for continued flight, and reviewing management and production effectiveness. The role involves analyzing personnel and equipment performance, initiating management actions to address deficiencies, and managing the maintenance planning cycle. Ensuring only qualified personnel perform maintenance with appropriate equipment and tools, and compliance with safety directives and occupational safety and health standards are paramount. The manager must establish procedures to minimize foreign object damage and dropped objects, ensure pilot-reported discrepancies and maintenance actions are accurately entered into aircraft forms and the Maintenance Information System, and advise the production supervisor of potential disruptions to the maintenance plan. This position also requires understanding and implementing on-base disaster control duties and responsibilities, keeping the Aircraft Maintenance Department Director informed of all activities, and managing vehicles and facilities. All other position-related duties as assigned or requested are also part of the scope.
