About The Position

This position provides analysis development and system support for the North Port Fire Rescue District. Supported applications include Microsoft Windows, Netmotion, Computer Aided Dispatching Systems, National Fire Incident Reporting Systems, Records Management Systems, Mobile Systems, Door Control Systems, ImageTrend, MobileEyes, Knox Secure Systems, Davis Weather Stations, and other applications as needed. Additionally, this position serves as technical consultant to various constituencies regarding the selection and use of appropriate technologies.

Requirements

  • High functioning, extremely autonomous position that requires good judgement and initiative in determining the methods and procedures that will be used for projects.
  • Requires the ability to use technical expertise, sound judgement, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of the use, application and operation of various types of computer systems.
  • Skill in customer service, including ability to communicate technical and other data effectively, both in person and in writing.
  • Skilled in the use small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems.
  • Skilled in using computers for data entry, word processing and accounting purposes.
  • Ability to translate technical terms to understandable language for users.
  • Ability to keep information secure and confidential.
  • Ability to interpret system specifications and prepare documentation.
  • Ability to plan, organize and use mature judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions in accordance with established policy.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City officials, other employees and the public.
  • Ability to research, diagnose and resolve technical problems.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, or a combination of post-secondary technical education.
  • Two (2) years of direct experience in a relevant information technology position.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Florida driver's license by date of hire.
  • Will be required to submit to a State and National Criminal Background Investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides timely and accurate technical guidance and consultation to end users, including business process improvements through the use of technology.
  • Installs, configures and maintains computers, printers, scanners, laptops, tablets, software, audio/visual equipment and various other technology platforms.
  • Performs maintenance on computer hardware, software, and other associated equipment.
  • Provides technical hardware and software support and consultation to end users and colleagues.
  • Performs technical design of various audio/visual systems and ancillary equipment, and provide training and support for these systems.
  • Performs system management using tools such as Active Directory, Group Policy, Kace, and others.
  • Creates, tests, and deploys software packages throughout the organization.
  • Provide Orientation or initial/follow up training for system users.
  • Acts as department liaison to the Sarasota County 911 Center for Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) issues.
  • Designs, creates, maintains and deploys computer images for a variety of operating systems and platforms.
  • Provides recommendations regarding technology product selection, procurement and implementation.
  • Creates and maintains technical documentation.
  • Performs testing and evaluations of various technologies.
  • Assists Network Administrator with troubleshooting of network and server issues with the use of appropriate administration tools.
  • Documents service events for internal controls and reporting purposes.
  • Assists with the administration of applications such as SharePoint, Web CMS, Kace, Group Policy, Active Directory and others.
  • Work with third party vendors for advanced level hardware/software support.
  • Add and remove users to applications.
  • Schedule and communicate all system related downtime.
