About The Position

Tower Hill Insurance Group is hiring a Systems Summer Intern for a temporary, 12-week program that introduces students or recent graduates to the property and casualty insurance industry. The intern will attend Lean Six Sigma training, lead a project from inception to completion, and may earn a Yellow Belt certification. The role also includes learning about the insurance industry through collaboration with internal departments, training, shadowing, mentorship, and company events. In the Systems Data Engineering department, the intern will help modernize insurance claims applications. The project involves refactoring a legacy MERN stack codebase into an enterprise-grade architecture using PostgreSQL databases, Pythonic API frameworks, Microsoft Entra SSO, and TypeScript front-end frameworks. Working with a project mentor and senior database and software engineers, the intern will gain hands-on experience with migration patterns, secure authentication protocols, API design, agile development, full-stack software engineering, and cloud integration.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree, or a high school diploma or GED with ongoing progress toward a bachelor's or master's degree.
No previous experience required.

Responsibilities

Attend Lean Six Sigma training and lead a project from inception to completion.
Collaborate with internal departments to gain industry knowledge and achieve project goals.
Prepare and present project updates to senior management.
Become familiar with property and casualty insurance terminology and complete assigned industry training.
Assist team members with day-to-day tasks and assignments.
Shadow team members and an assigned executive mentor.
Participate in company social events and network with others.
Attend assigned onboarding and training.
Assist with modernizing insurance claims applications by refactoring a legacy MERN stack codebase into a modern architecture.
